As much as you tried to convince yourself when you started university that it will never happen, it’s inevitable that you will end up going out one night when you’ve got a 9am lecture the next morning, or promised to meet a friend for an early revision session.
Though you may think at first that the problem will be trying to get yourself out of bed the next morning, the real challenge is looking like you never had that big night out in the first place.
- The most essential thing to remember is to take your makeup off straight away when you get home from partying, and remember to wash your face. We all know a hangover only looks worse when your eyes are ringed with last night’s mascara and smokey eye remains.
- When you get up, have a drink of water. We all know how important it is to drink water to help our skin (and the rest of our body), and gulping down a pint of water when you wake up will take the gross sawdust-taste out of your mouth, and leave you feeling more human.
- Take a shower. A nice hot shower. It’ll open up your pores, get rid of all the sweat and grime you didn’t get off last night when you took your makeup off (hint, hint), and if you’ve got time to wash your hair, it’ll inject a whole lot more life into you. If you don’t have the time to do the full works, rub in some dry shampoo to give your hair some lift and life.
- Baby wipes are your friend. Whether it was Magic Hatstand in all its glittery glory, a social involving neon paint, or you’re just trying to scrub the last of your Lemmy stamp off your hand, a baby wipe will work wonders. (Especially if you’ve decided you’re in too much of a rush to take a long shower).
- Some concealer and highlighter are a must when you apply your post-night out makeup. Put some concealer in the inner and outer corners of your eyes to brighten them up. Apply some highlighter along the apple of your cheeks, your cupid’s bow, and straight down your nose (the main points where the sun catches your face) to help mask your hangover and give you a fresh look. Tip: if your skin is red and blotchy, try some green concealer to balance out your skin tone before you put your foundation on.
