Just when we didn’t think we could love Lily James any more than we already do, she starred on our screens in the biggest smash hit film of the summer lookin’ darn right perfect in every single scene. While some of us might struggle to imitate those pitch-perfect high notes and on-point dance moves, we can at least attempt to evoke those beachy waves and golden tan, right? Summer might be coming to a close, and much to our dismay we aren’t all living on a gorgeous Greek island with three love interests chasing us around. But, as far as we’re concerned at HCX, disco never dies.
So here is our enthusiastic guide on how to embrace those eternally chic 70s and 80s looks. Get prepared for some LOUD patterns and lotsa denim.
Main character and lead singer Donna, wouldn’t be complete without her staple denim dungarees. We can definitely imagine her in this Topshop, cropped denim jumpsuits, £46, or this denim cut out jumpsuit for £36.

Equally, another staple item is a jazzy striped jumpsuit for the next time you fancy spontaneously performing a 70s hit in front of your whole university class (Yanno, as you do). This one is currently just £11 from New Look!
Next up is Donna’s floaty midi skirt! Even though dear Donna was having her heart broken by Jeremy Irvine, she still looked too glam to give a damn, singing her heart out among the trees in her floaty skirt. New Look offers another bargain with a £10 yellow number, while H&M has a more patterned skirt for £15.
Another loud fashion feature of the film is, of course, colourful print, wide leg trousers! These trousers are from Oysho and are £29.99.
To complete the outfit, Donna wears a denim crop top! We’ve found one from Forever 21, for £15.
And of course an outfit isn’t complete without its accessories, so we’ve gone full out Abba with metallic ankle boots and floppy hats.

Last but not least, we couldn’t resist not including the most Mamma Mia outfit currently available on the market. While it may not be a wardrobe necessity, it’s still fun to think about another life, where we’re the lead singer of a Donna and the Dynamos-esque girl band, singing and dancing in sparkly af outfits.
