3 Year Old Boy Disappears from Home in Edinburgh

3 year old Mikaeel Kular went missing from his home in Edinburgh last Wednesday after his mother had put him to bed. Emergency services immediately launched a search for Mikaeel, and over 200 people from the local community volunteered to help, enabling the police to cover a larger area. Shortly before midnight on Friday a body was found around 20 miles away from Mikaeel’s home, in a property belonging to one of the Mikaeel’s mother’s relatives. As a result, Mikaeel’s mother Rosdeep Kular has been detained by the police. The police have not yet confirmed the identity of the body, however they have said that they strongly believe it to be the body of Mikaeel. 

Zara Phillips Gives Birth to Daughter

Last Friday the Royal family welcomed its newest addition into the world, the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild and 16th in line to the throne. Zara Phillips and her rugby star husband Mike Tindall are overjoyed; he tweeted after the birth “Thanks so much for all your kind messages. Definitely the best day of my life today, so happy.! The girls are both doing great!” The couple revealed that the baby girl weighed 7lbs 12oz, but have not yet announced her name. 

Stampede at Memorial Service in India Kills 18

At least 18 people have died and 40 more injured after a stampede took place at the funeral service of Muslim spiritual leader Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin. Thousands of people had gathered to mourn the leader who died last Friday, and it is reported that the deaths occurred after the gates to the house where the body was being held were not opened, and people were therefore tragically crushed.

Prince Harry Retires from the Battlefield

It was announced on Friday that Prince Harry is leaving his job as an Apache helicopter pilot, and will start a new army staff officer role. He will be helping to organise large ceremonial events for the Army, while being based at the Horse Guards in London. 

Suicide Bomb Attack Kills 14 People in Kabul Restaurant

A restaurant in Kabul that is known for being popular with foreigners underwent an attack on Friday. At least 14 people were killed during a bomb and gun attack, victims of which included the head of the International Monetary Fund in Afghanistan. The UN have also announced that four of its staff are still unaccounted for. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for this attack, saying that they were deliberately targeting these foreign officials.
