Sainsburys ‘Kiss-In’

A mass ‘kiss-in’ has been staged at a Sainsbury’s store in Brighton after a lesbian couple were asked to leave the store for kissing after a customer complained, branding them ‘disgusting’.  The kiss in, which took place on the evening of Wed 15th attracted huge public attention, with 1400 people attending the facebook event and thousands others sharing their support online through the hashtag #KissIn

Apprentice 2014 – BBC 1 Wednesdays at Nine

It’s back! The new series of Apprentice is back for its tenth series with a double-whammy two episodes shown this week. This year’s series is a little different with 20 candidates instead of 10 still within the same 12 week timeframe, allowing Lord Sugar to kick out multiple candidates at his whim, which of course makes for even better viewing. We can’t wait to see more of Sassy Canadian Steven who’s already managed to kick  up a stir in week 1. Not to mention an Solly, an Exeter graduate, has caught our attention! And don’t forget to switch over afterwards to Apprentice You’re Fired hosted by Dara O’Brian on BBC 2.

Judy Finnigan Rape Comment

Judy Finnigan, commonly known from The Richard and Judy show, has come under public scrutiny today for allegedly defending convicted rapist Ched Evans on ITV show Loose Women. Evans served 2 ½ years of his five year sentence for the rape of a 19 year old girl. After rumours suggesting a return to his previous football club Sheffield United, Finnigan suggested this should be allowed on the grounds that ‘the rape was not violent. He didn’t cause any bodily harm to the person.’ She even suggested that the woman ‘had too much to drink’. Finnigan was forced to apologise after public outrage, later stating ‘I apologise unreservedly for any offence that I may have caused as a result of the wording I used’.

Jamie Oliver Hires Paedophile

Continuing on from the debate about life after criminals have served their time, Jamie Oliver has been in the public eye this week for hiring a 24 year old convicted paedophile as a chef in his ‘Fifteen Restaurant’ in Islington. The restaurant is designed specifically as part of a scheme to teach young people how to become top chefs.  David Mason spent two years in prison and two years on probation for the rape of a 12 year old girl but has now been awarded a place on this heavily oversubscribed scheme.   Jamie Oliver responded to public backlash – ‘we decided that as he’d served his sentence, he should be allowed a place.’

Man Tweets for Help

A US tourist found himself stuck in a Waterstones store in London, and turned to twitter to help get him out. The man positioned upstairs sneakily hiding to use the stores Wi-Fi didn’t notice the staff locking up downstairs and only realised what had happened when the lights went off. Luckily, after seeing his tweet for help, Waterstones staff returned, although two hours later, to set him free!
