Summer is well and truly gone, it’s time to say goodbye to our bronzed glow and start coming to terms with our true pale complexions.
This winter the natural look is in, perfect for our early morning dash to lectures, there is a lot of emphasis on thick long lashes. For those of us not blessed with perfect fluttery lashes there are a few mascaras we have found that work a treat:
- If you want to splurge on a high-end mascara, Lancôme doll eyes gives you the voluptuous full lashes.
- However as students we must cut back where we can and Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme Black is a brilliant mascara for defining and thickening your lashes. Here at HCX we are true bargain hunters and have found it is on sale in Wilko for £6, plus student discount!
If you are feeling more daring this winter why not try the graphic eyeliner trend. This look is great for changing up your typical going out makeup. It takes some practice, a fair few YouTube tutorials, but the end result really makes your eyes pop. If you are in a hurry or just can’t master it Glam Republic do stick on eyeliner, we won’t tell if you don’t!
In winter our skin can often get dry and dull so it is important to keep skin glowing. Cream blush is great to keep skin looking fresh but also injects some warmth and colour into the face. Max Factor’s creamy blusher in ‘Soft Murano’ is great for every for every skin tone, it is a slightly deeper colour that moves away from the pinks and peaches we were wearing in summer.
Finally, the classic winter dark lip, no matter how many times we read in Vogue and Elle that this winter is all about the nudes, sometimes you just want to wear a deep red lipstick at Christmas. After putting many lipstick combinations to the test our favourite has to be Rimmel 1000 kisses lip liner in the colour ‘black tulip’ with Rimmel – Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in ‘030’. It gives a beautiful berry finish that lasts for hours, no matter how many mulled wines and mince pies you have.
The change of season is the perfect excuse to buy yet more nail varnishes. This season it is all about the brown tones. Whether red or purple the brown undertones are a little bit different to the classic Christmas reds. As always Essie have excelled themselves with their winter collection and our personal favourite is ‘Angora Cardi’, a beautiful purple/brown that will make your hands look perfectly manicured.
