Every year, H&M collaborates with different designers to bring runway apparel to their stores. At the 2014 Coachella Spring Music Festival their highly anticipated collaboration with Alexander Wang was announced. Wang is one of the biggest icons in the fashion industry and his designs are worn by a number of celebrities, like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Selena Gomez. The collection debuted on October 16th in Manhattan.
Wang started his illustrious career in fashion back in 2005 when he became creative director of his own iconic label. His first collection debuted in 2007 with his Autumn/Winter collection at New York Fashion Week. His success was instantaneous. On top of managing his own line, he became creative director of Balenciaga in 2012 and rose to the position with perfection, proving himself with the success of the 2013 Balenciaga runway show.
This collection with Wang is a revolutionary moment for H&M because it’s the first time they have collaborated with an American designer. Wang designed 61 apparel and accessories items for both men and women for this collection. The line features strappy body con dresses, structured mesh paneling, and one of the most stylish sports bras that has even been seen.
The collection for H&M won’t hit stores until November 6th of this year, but look books featuring his designs have been released online. Wang and H&M wanted the best of the best models to wear the look. Famous and beautiful athletes such as soccer player Andy Carroll and kick boxer Rivaldino dos Santos were hand picked for the promos recently launched. November 6th cannot come soon enough, ladies.
