There’s something about A-list stars that draws everyone in, making them want to know every detail of their extravagant lives. From what their babies wear to stalking their vacations on Instagram, us collegiettes just can’t get enough.
Yet when it comes to Angelia Jolie, it’s the groundbreaking creation of a school to combat war violence against women that makes her the inspiration and icon she is today.
Angelina Jolie has joined William Hague, England’s Fist Secretary of State, to commence this academic center at the London School of Economics. Women, peace, and security studies will be the main focus to highlight and educate the tragic and inhumane actions that take place against women during wartime and how to help survivors.
Jolie stated in an address to the London School of Economics, “There is no stable future for a world in which crimes committed against women go unpunished. We need the next generation of educated youth with inquisitive minds and fresh energy, who are willing not only to sit in the classroom but to go out into the field and the courtrooms and to make a decisive difference.”
With this goal, starting in 2016, the school will also offer a post-graduate teaching program in Women, Peace and Security studies.
Angelina Jolie is not only touching the hearts of those she saves and encounters, but is also inspiring other celebrities to do what they can, with the power of their voice, to change the world.
