The Best Parts About Going Home for Christmas Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Finals week is more than halfway over, collegiettes, and it’s officially time to start looking forward to going home for Christmas Break. Here are the eight best things about going home for break:

1. Food

Dining hall food is subpar on a normal day, but towards the end of the semester it too seems like it has lost all motivation to keep putting in effort. Home-cooked meals everyday for a month is heavenly.

2. Sleep

After pulling all-nighters for almost two weeks during finals, going home for Christmas break means sleeping in for as long as you want every morning.

3. Family

It’s been almost a month since Thanksgiving and getting ready for the holidays at school just isn’t the same. Once you’re reunited with your family, you can finally start to celebrate with all your weird holiday traditions.

4. Friends

Exchanging presents and catching up with your best friends from home you haven’t seen in months is a definite way to put you in the holiday spirit.

5. Pets

Cuddling with your furry friends is just what you need after those two stressful weeks of finals.

6. Christmas Decorations

The lights on campus are nice and dorm rooms can look really cute when they’re decorated, but there’s nothing better than having a real Christmas tree in your house and driving around at night looking at all the houses lit up.

7. Vacation

Because winter break is so long, it provides the perfect opportunity for a quick getaway and an escape from the cold weather.

8. No Stress

Winter break is perfectly placed between the end of fall semester and the beginning of spring semester, so you have virtually no schoolwork to worry about.
