Over the past few months, speculation has risen regarding Beyoncé’s famous diet plan. Whether she is binging on maple syrup or cleansing with lemonade, Beyoncé has proven that nothing comes without determination. Some wonder why she has succumbed to this method, and others have praised her for her constant continuation. But is this régime efficient, healthy, or even realistic? Her diet consists of a 10 to 14 day detox while consuming only servings of sap from a maple tree, lemon juice, water and cayenne pepper.
But what makes the combination of these items acceptable to use for meal supplements? I was surprised to read how such apparently disjointed ingredients have cleansingcapabilities. Bey is said to use this technique, a 20th century recipe from Stanley Burroughs, when preparing for performances or tours. She has claimed to have lost upwards of 20 pounds in this short and pressing time frame of 10 to 14 days.
In my eyes, any diet that causes you to lose weight so quickly raises concern. We constantly see advertisements and commercials for the ‘next big thing’ regarding health and weight loss. Just like Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, pill supplements and other diets, results may, and most likely will, vary. In regards to a healthy dietary fulfillment, there is no way that this sort of regiment can provide someone with even a slight percentage of the nutrients needed for daily consumption. There is obviously no guarantee that such a method is plausible to accomplish for the average person, as people will most likely feel tired, deprived, and starving due to the lack of these vital nutrients.
As a collegiette, I personally cannot see myself trying these ways anytime soon. Losing weight in such an unhealthy and quick manner is not something I would personally recommend, and is not something I intend to pursue.
