Burberry has launched their holiday campaign and it has done more than what the brand was aiming for.
The trailer “The Tale of Thomas Burberry”, directed by Academy Award winning filmmaker and documentarian Asif Kapadia, is a short fictionalized film about the life of Thomas Burberry the founder of the British brand.
According to Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), the trailer stars Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson, Dominic West, Ernest Shackleton, and Sienna Miller.
In the trailer viewers see Gleeson, whom plays Thomas Burberry, through the course of many historic events from the 20th century such as World War II. Viewers see Burberry finding his passion for fashion and finding love.
The trailer also stars Lily James, whom is the current face of Burberry, as fictional character Betty Dawson whom is based on real life record-breaking pilot Betty Kirby-Green.
James thinks a full length movie should be released.
“I want there to be a full movie. And with the amount of footage we shot, I’m sure they could have made a film. We invested in the characters, and it was shot like a normal film,” James said to WWD.
According to the Independent, James isn’t the only one that wants a feature film to be released. Twitter users have been tweeting out asking for a film to be released as well.
