Coming back to school after a relaxing spring break is never easy. You go to class and your professor builds off of material that was covered just before the break and you are lost. This is normal, but it is time to get back into a routine before it is too late. Here are the best ways to prepare your self for the last weeks of the semester.
- Get organized. Pull out your syllabus for each class and take note of when your exams are so that you have a visual layout that you can utilize to plan your studying accordingly. You do not want to fall behind now and then find yourself crashing the whole course into one week when it comes to final exam time. Â
- Give yourself things to look forward to. I personally record my life in my planner and it helps to layout what will be happening in the upcoming weeks. At the start of each new week, I look to see what is on the agenda and set a mental countdown for fun things coming up. It motivates me to get through my week by knowing that I will be doing something fun with my friends on Saturday night. Â
- Try to stick to a routine sleep schedule. We all need our beauty sleep. Since the daylight savings has recently cost us an hour, it may feel even more painful attempting to get out of bed in the morning. If you are falling asleep in class, you cannot be an attentive listener and take good notes. Â
- Take advantage of the resources that Fairfield offers. If you are unsure about something that your professor explained in class, go to peer tutoring and get another perspective. If you know that you cannot focus in your room, go to the library- it is not bitterly cold anymore, so there is no excuse as to why you can’t walk over!
Summer is just around the corner- don’t allow yourself to lose touch with your goals for the semester. Stay motivated and focus on what you are here for!
