I Let My Boyfriend Do My Makeup & This is What Happened

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Putting on makeup is a daily routine for most girls. It is such a basic part of my morning and an activity I have been doing for many years. With that said, this week I decided to experiment a little and have my boyfriend try doing my makeup.

Now, I am not one to use expensive designer makeup due to that “broke college student life.” However, the drugstore brand products I use do the trick for me to accomplish my everyday look. I keep it rather simple in my daily routine, which I think gave my boyfriend the upper hand in this fun little activity.

Obviously, my boyfriend had no experience doing this sort of thing, so I decided to have some fun with it. To make things interesting, I gave him a time limit of ten minutes to do my makeup. I also didn’t tell him what each product was for so it was basically a free-for-all! I sat in a chair, bare-faced and ready to see what masterpiece or horror show he was about to create. He started off with what he knew…the chapstick. He then proceeded to do my under eye concealer, which he figured out on his own (props to my bf!). I was thoroughly impressed! After that, things basically went downhill because he didn’t know what the other products were for. The final step was my mascara, which was really scary because of the fear of being stabbed in the eye. I know you’ve all been there before ladies!

Once he was finished, I took a look in the mirror and surprisingly was not horrified by what I saw. Despite him applying blush three times and almost putting my stick concealer on as lipstick, he actually did really well! I ended up wearing that face of makeup the whole day because I actually looked presentable. This experience was great because I didn’t have to do my own makeup that day, and it was also hilarious having him do it.  Don’t be fooled girls! Some guys actually know what they’re doing!
