After plenty of hype surrounding Gucci’s next move, the company has appointed Alessandro Michele as the new creative director. This decision comes after Frida Giannini abruptly left Gucci before her scheduled departure, along with CEO Patrizio di Marco.
Gucci represents a contemporary luxury brand that continues to influence the world in ready to wear and accessories.
Gucci’s new CEO, Marco Bizzari, has stated that Michele was selected “based upon the contemporary vision he has articulated for the brand that he will now bring to life”
Prior to his venture in the house of Gucci, Michele studied at the Academy of Costume & Fashion, in his hometown of Rome. He then continued on to work alongside Giannini at Fendi, where he was also the head accessories designer.
In 2002 he eventually transferred to Gucci in where he began slowly working his way up ranks within the company. Due to his years of experience with Gucci as the head accessories designer, he certainly possesses great knowledge of the company and its vision.
Alessandro Michele will debut his first women’s ready to wear collection this February at Milan Fashion Week. Bizzari, as well as the rest of the world, is excited to see Michele’s contemporary vision for Gucci come to life.
