Are you looking for love this Valentine’s Day? Fairfield University’s Inter Residential Housing Association (IRHA) is hosting their first ever “Love In This Club” event. Sparks will be flying as one lucky girl will have the chance to win a date with one of Fairfield U’s most eligible bachelors. IRHA’s co-director of community outreach, Jennie Chieco ‘17 explains, “IRHA will fund the winners a trip into town for a nice date at a place of their choice!”
The event will mimic a game show atmosphere in which one guy will be set apart, with a curtain divider, from three anonymous ladies. Participants will be asked a series of questions in which the girl who best matches the guy’s interests will win a date to better get to know one another. Chieco also stated, “I am super excited to see if this event sparks future date nights off campus for fellow students. It has become a thing of the past for men to ask women out on a date, but with this event, we are hoping to break that barrier.”
As many of us know, hookup culture is extremely prevalent on campus, whereas relationships are becoming more and more unpopular amongst students. IRHA’s co-director of student affairs, Matt Turner ‘17, further explains, “this event is going to break down the hookup culture on campus by promoting real-life dating. Actually asking someone out on a date is a rare thing these days and this event is encouraging students to spend a night out on the town having real conversations, not just meeting at a dark townhouse.” What more could a girl as for, right?
The event will take place on Thursday, February 12 at 8:00pm in the Levee. IRHA will be raffling off prizes at the event and encourages all attendees to bring their friends! So if you’re single and ready to mingle, this is an event you definitely will not want to miss.
