Have you ever wanted to lock up someone that was annoying you or getting on your nerves? Well, now you can…and for an amazing cause!
October 13, 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of Fairfield University’s Jail N’ Bail! The Department of Public Safety hosts the event, which allows you to send someone to “jail” as a fundraiser for Special Olympics Connecticut. This year, it will take place from 9 am to 6 pm in the Traffic Circle.
In addition to the warrants and hearings by DPS, local vendors and sponsors will be at the event providing food and entertainment! This is a wonderful opportunity to raise money for a great foundation, while having fun with your friends, RAs, and professors.
Here’s what you need to know to have a successful and entertaining Jail N’Bail:
To arrest someone, a warrant must be filled out. They are available at the Department of Public Safety, in the BCC, or here. Warrants cost $5. Checks should be made out to the Special Olympics CT, or you can pay in cash or Stag Bucks. Payment by credit card is allowed on the day of the event. To bail the person out who was “arrested,” $40 must be raised. The “arrestee” can call whomever they desire using their phone or the phone supplied by the “prison guard” to raise the money. You may choose to call your family, friends, coworkers, or classmates. Only until bail is raised or a responsible effort has been made will the “arrestee” be released from jail. No matter how big or small the donation is, every effort counts and matters!
