Keep Calm and Black Friday Shop On

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

It’s a known fact that collegiettes love shopping more than anyone else on this planet, so Black Friday is a pretty big day for us. Early wake-ups, crowded malls, and long lines can be overwhelming, but by following these Black Friday tips, you’ll be sure to have a great day of shopping.

The Night BeforeMake Lists: If you make all your shopping lists the night before you go, you’ll feel much more prepared and you’ll know for sure that there won’t be any awkward moments later on when someone bought you a present and you forgot to buy them one.

Check Sales: Make sure you look at the websites of all your favorites stores before you go out shopping so you’ll know which places are having the best sales! Check out Her Campus Fairfield’s article on the Best Black Friday Deals.

Pick Out Your Outfit: You’re going to be so tired after only getting a few hours of sleep, so, just like with early classes, it’s a good idea to pick out your outfit the night before. Remember you’re going to be doing a lot of walking in a really crowded area, so go for comfy shoes and layers.

Get Some Sleep: Try to at least get a few hours of sleep before you head out. Food comas from Thanksgiving dinner will make this easy, anyway.

The Morning OfSet Multiple Alarms: You’re going to be waking up way earlier on Black Friday than you do for your 8 a.m. classes, and we all know how many alarms it takes to get out of bed on those days, so don’t forget to set these!

Eat A Good Breakfast and Caffeinate: Shopping all day takes a lot of energy out of a collegiette, so make sure you eat a big breakfast and caffeinate. Leftover pie from Thanksgiving dessert makes the perfect Black Friday morning breakfast.

Pack Your Bag: It’s a good idea to bring a water bottle and snacks with you, so you can keep your energy levels high and stay hydrated. Don’t forget your lists, too!

Listen To Christmas Music In The Car: Thanksgiving is technically over, so it’s totally acceptable to listen to Christmas music and there’s no better way to get in the Christmas spirit!

When You Arrive At The MallGet A Good Parking Spot: Your Black Friday shopping success is almost directly related to how prime of a parking spot you find.

Make A Game Plan: Now that you know where you plan to do your shopping, look at a map and decide how you will navigate through all the stores.

Take Trips To The Car: No one wants to carry around heavy shopping bags for hours, so take quick trips to the car to drop off some bags.

Go With A Good Team: There’s nothing worse than spending Black Friday with a group of people complaining about how tired they are, how crowded the mall is, andhow long the lines are, so plan to go with a good team of friends who will stay upbeat throughout the whole day.

If you use all these tips, you are guaranteed to have your most successful Black Friday yet. Happy shopping, collegiettes!
