After a year of anticipation, Kenny Chesney has finally broken his silence with the release of his newest album, “The Big Revival.” It is seen as Kenny’s most important release in years and has left country fans positively speechless.
With eight Entertainer Of The Year awards, 25 number one hits, over 30 million albums sold and about a million followers and fans known as the “No Shoes Nation,” Kenny Chesney is easily one of country’s biggest stars. Within the last few years, however, Kenny has taken a backseat in the music business. With multiple tour-less summers that left fans confused and scared, Kenny has finally calmed all nerves and proven that the wait was well worth it. He’s back and better than ever.
The first song released from the album, “American Kids,” brought in positive feedback, and fast. The song, released June 23rd, reached a number one spot by the end of the summer. Although a bit of a twist on Kenny’s typical island-country sound, “American Kids” was the song of the summer with it’s relatable lyrics and feel-good beat. “American Kids” made fans anxious to see what else Chesney had in store for his big comeback.
As for the rest of the album, it seems like Kenny Chesney has found his cherished old groove once again. Songs like “Til It’s Gone” and “Beer Can Chicken” have lyrics that will stay in your head for hours. And hey, what would a Kenny Chesney album be without a duet with his favorite singing partner, Grace Potter? The two sound just as good in their new song “Wild Child” as they do in the old favorite, “You and Tequila.”
So, did “The Big Revival” really require Chesney’s yearlong break and the distress it caused his fans? To put it simply, yes. Chesney was planning something big, and was clearly aware that it would take a lot of work and preparation. These plans included some much needed “me-time” for Chesney. He traveled the world, hung out with old friends, and spent every second living as best as he could. These ideas, based on a live-in-the-moment mindset, became the basis of his new album with lyrics like “everybody’s got their own path… don’t look back…if you do, laugh.”
Chesney was all about going big or going home with this project. In a Today Show interview, Chesney explains just exactly what he was looking to create: “I didn’t want to repeat myself, but then again I didn’t want to alienate my audience either. I wanted to make these songs we made and rattle their cage.” Well, Kenny Chesney, all the effort you put into preparing for this album and its actual production was so worth it. No Shoes Nation is so glad you’re back, and we can’t wait to hear more exciting news…aka tour announcements!
