We are all familiar with Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC and all the glitz and glam surrounding the event. Another affair for designers is Haute Couture Week in France’s fashion capital, Paris. Twice a year, high-end designers display their expensive handmade creations, many of which we later see on the red carpets of award shows.
This year, from January 25-29, models took to the catwalk in the City of Lights, showing off the designs of renowned fashion houses like Versace and Chanel. It’s safe to say that after this week, celebrities who are getting ready for the Oscars will have plenty of gowns to choose from!
Here are our top picks from Couture Week Spring/Summer 2015:Â
Valentino
This gorgeous midnight blue gown was one of our favorite looks of the entire week. The color, the stunning gold appliques on the skirt, and the beading on the bodice made this gown stand out from the rest of the designer’s bold collection, which was inspired by the Russian countryside.
Zuhair Murad
The Lebanese designer stunned with his ethereal, yet sexy embellished collection. This gown in particular reminded us of a modern day Cinderella. What girl doesn’t want to be a Disney princess?
Elie Saab
Ever since Mila Kunis wore this gorgeous purple dress to the 2011 Academy Awards, Elie Saab has been one of our personal favorites. His signature dreamy style of beading and lace showed through in many pieces within the collection, but the designer switched it up with some of his statement pieces such as this romantic gown adorned with lively butterfly appliques.
Christian Dior
Christian Dior designer Raf Simons took the fashion house to a new level with his take on past meets future. Models rocked psychedelic sequined jumpsuits and shifts, paired with thigh-high, colorful kicks, and sleek ponytails. The show left us asking one question—where can I get my hands on a pair of those latex legging boots?
