#OVERIT: Signs You’re Already Done With The Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Spring semester has finally started here at Fairfield! We were all pumped to get back to campus to see our besties, roommates and peers. Then it finally has hit us… college is not just fun and games. We realize that we have to get back into the mindset of school, homework, and grades. This realization is scary and we just want it to be over. Here are 10 signs that we are just not feeling this semester:

1. Denying It Is Not Syllabus Week Anymore

How is it not syllabus week anymore? Time is flying by and we went right through the week of light work, partying and slacking off with friends. Can we still pretend this week is the same? Anyone want to get breakfast at 2PM with me? What homework?

2. Hitting The Snooze Button

The snooze button is probably the best and worst invention there is. When your alarm goes off we press that snooze button like our lives depend on it and promise ourselves just five more minutes of peace. Then, it is about 10 minutes before your class starts and you have to accept it is going to be a sweatshirt and leggings kind of day.

3. Looking Outside And Telling Yourself You Can’t Even

There is snow on the ground. Actual white stuff that is cold to the touch. Nope, that is it! I am not going outside because I might get sick or slip on some ice. And our professors should definitely not drive in this. They should cancel class…maybe for the rest of the week?

4. Refusing To Go To The Lib

Yes, you probably have a couple hundred of pages to read. And, yes you probably have to write a couple of papers. But do you go to the lib? No, it is way too early to lock yourself up in one of those cubicles.

5. Sparknotes, Sparknotes, Sparknotes

I think we’ve forgotten how to read. We have so little motivation that we rely on Google and Sparknotes. What has the world come to and how can we get out of this slump?

6. When Watching Netflix is Considered A Productive Day

Netflix all day, everyday. We look at our syllabus and it tells us how much work we should be doing so instead we get into binge-watching Netflix. Productive right?

7. Ordering Textbooks At The Last Minute

Or not at all. We did not think school was actually going to happen this soon so now we are scrambling to order the books that our professors have already assigned 80 pages in… next day shipping?

8. School Supplies?

I forgot we needed folders, notebooks and pens. Anyone want to take a trip to the bookstore or..?

9. What Are Real Clothes?

It is cold and how can I look cute while I am bundled up in a parka, three layers, boots and a hat? I just look like an Oompa Loompa heading for Alaska. I guess comfy clothes are the winner yet again.

10. Count Down

HOW MANY DAYS TILL SPRING BREAK?

Adriana is currently a second semester senior at Fairfield University. She is majoring in Communication and English with a concentration in creative writing as well as a double minor in marketing and women, gender and sexuality studies.
Gabriella is currently a junior at Fairfield University, where she is majoring in Marketing and minoring in Communications. She is Co-Campus Correspondent of Her Campus Fairfield with her roomie/best friend Pamela Grant! Gab can most likely be found with a Venti Starbs in hand, while wearing obnoxiously large sunnies (no shame), reading the most recent issue of Glamour Mag.
