Background:Jeb Bush was the governor of Florida from 1999 to 2007.
Foreign Policy:Bush’s views on Foreign Policy are very certain. He says American troops shouldn’t be sent to fight an “Islamic state”. Instead, American armed forces should be train foreign troops so that they can identify targets. In regards to relations with Cuba, he doesn’t believe the embargo should be lifted. He said, “instead of lifting the embargo they should consider strengthening it”.
Immigration:Bush’s view on immigration is that anyone that is illegal should be offered a way to legal status.“You pay your fines, you get provisional work permits, where you come out of the shadows, you pay taxes, you pay fines, you don’t receive government assistance, you learn English, you don’t commit crimes,” said Bush on his campaign website. He does believe that the American borders should be strengthened.
Same-Sex Marriage:Bush has a conservative view on same-sex marriage, but does believe that same-sex couples should be recognized in some way. Bush states, “I hope that we can show respect for the good people on all sides of the gay and lesbian marriage issue,” he said in January, “including couples making lifetime commitments to each other who are seeking greater legal protections and those of us who believe marriage is a sacrament and want to safeguard religious liberty.”
Environment:On the issue of environment, he believes that the climate is indeed changing and that something has to be done about.
Education:Bush believes that the level of proficiency in the areas of Math and English should be raised. He states, “Raising expectations and having accurate assessments of where kids are is essential for success.”
