Struggles of Walking (Sprinting) to DSB: From a Former Freshman

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Now being a Sophomore and living in the Village, I am so thankful to say that I am a mere 5-minute walk from DSB.  However, such a close walk is well-deserved after my sprints out of Regis as a freshman. Living on the quad has its perks: you’re close to pretty much every building on campus… EXCEPT DSB.

Here were just a few of the many complaints that would cross my mind when I had to embark on the brutal journey to the Dolan School of Business.

1. Leaving your dorm 30 minutes before class just to make it on time.

2. Realizing that you really take that 3-minute leisurely walk to Canisus for granted.

3. Being jealous of the upperclassmen who have cars on campus, so they can drive to DSB and show up nonchalantly 5 minutes before class starts.

4. Having a class right before you have one in DSB and running to make it there on time. From personal experience, just save yourself the huffing and puffing and proudly accept the late.

It’s not always a struggle, though! Savor that feeling of accomplishment when you finally open the door entering DSB… and let’s not talk about the walk back you’re going to have to do once class ends.

My final message to all first-years making their way over to DSB a few times a week? It gets better!!

Friends, sun, sand, and sea is all this chick needs.
