Why It’s OK to Be Single During the Holiday Season!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Listen up single ladies: the holidays are upon us and there is a misconception that we have to be in a relationship to enjoy the festivities. Don’t listen to them because we can have just as much (if not more!) during the holidays. Here are just a few reasons why it is going to be A-OK to go stag during the holiday season:

1.Family and friends are here for you

The holidays are a time for appreciating the people you have in your life. There’s nothing wrong with taking a cute squad pic featuring Christmas trees, candy canes, and gingerbread houses. Also, try spending more time with your family than wishing for a significant other.

2.You can make a difference in someone else’s life

You can fulfill yourself by helping those in need by giving back to your community. Everyone deserves a very merry holiday!

3.Not having to make awkward first impressions with the family

Major nervous breakdown! But guess what? You don’t have to worry about that at all. You get to spend time with the people you actually know rather than getting interrogated by his/her overbearing grandmother.

4.No pressure of having to find the prefect gift for your significant other

You are off the hook when it comes to getting your significant other a gift. You do not have the stress of knowing how much to spend or pretend to like what gift they spent hours trying to find…Phew, there’s a whole lot of anxiety out the window.

5.Saving money from not buying said gift

The holidays are expensive and chaotic as it is. This allows you to save money by only being responsible for your family and your friends that mean the world to you. Every penny counts!

6.No chance of a holiday breakup

There is no possible way for the holiday season can go down hill when you’re single. You get to jam out to the non-break up songs by our girls T-Swift, Adele and Selena Gomez. Oh, and those traditional Christmas songs…

7.New Year’s Eve

Yes, I said it, New Year’s Eve. We all fawn over that New Year’s Eve kiss but let’s all be honest, who needs a sloppy kiss for everyone to see? Instead, it is a night to dance your booty off in sparkly dresses just the way our girl T-Swift would.

Put on those ugly Christmas sweaters, grab a candy cane and put on your favorite holiday movie because you are going to be just fine. Stay warm and happy this holiday season!
