Every season, along with a list of the latest trends, consumers are presented with a list of looks that they should never be seen attempting.
However, like denim on denim was once a huge fashion faux-par, many trends that we are sworn away from eventually become a symbol of style. Here is a list of trends that I should not enjoy, but I just cant help myself!
1. Sandals with Socks
I know this is written off as a “clueless parent on holiday” look, but recently, I’ve started to think this look can be quite quirky and cool. With most fashion stores now selling endless amounts of cute socks, pairing them with a pair of sandals was eventually bound to happen (jellies trend atm)!
2. Roots
Â
Speaking as somebody who has had their hair dyed since they were 14, I know the pains of having to constantly get your roots touched-up. However, thanks to the likes of Kate Moss etc, roots have actually become quite a stylish symbol on non-conformity and festival fashion. This look has also taken the name of “ombre hair”, but don’t let this fool you, most of the best looks really are just people that have forgotten to book a hair appointment.
3. Bum-Bags
The name brings to mind images of market stalls and fruit stands, but recently the bum-bag has become a festival essential. Not only can you pack away all of your essentials (chapstick, phone and purse) in a hands free bag, but you know that you belongings are safe as they are literally strapped onto you.
4. Leggings as pants/trousers
Don’t let pretentious Twitter accounts tell you not to do this! Sometimes your oversized teeshirt just needs to be paired with some black leggings for style and bonus comfort points. Also, as cycling shorts are becoming a wardrobe essential, wearing leggings doesn’t mean that you’re limited in styling options. Recently I’ve become a fan of paring some plain black cycling shorts with a super-oversized plain white T!
