October is creeping up, which means that social media feeds will be filled with daily sketches from artists all over the world. Why?
It’s Inktober!
The almost decade-long challenge started in 2009 when Jake Parker, an American comics short-story creator, concept artist, illustrator, and animator, created a challenge to improve his inking skills. Since then, it has grown to be a worldwide self-challenge for artists each year.
According to inktober.com the rules are:
1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
2) Post it on any social media account
3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2020
4) Repeat
On the Inktober website there is the official 2020 list of 31 prompts for each day in October. However, some people chose to make their own lists with different themes and/or use different mediums other than ink.
There really isn’t a wrong way to do it as long as you’re having fun with it!
