This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Our Campus Celebrity this week is none other than Samantha Pujol. Unlike our past Campus Celebrities, Samantha is currently working on getting her Master’s in Recreation & Sports Management. Read below to find out how FIU has shaped has made an impact in her life.

Age: 22

Major: Bachelor’s in Hospitality & Tourism Management

What are your involvements on campus?

Student Assistant for FIU Football, Former Dazzler, Alpha Xi Delta Alum

So you’re in graduate school now? What made you want to join those organizations?

I joined Alpha Xi Delta as a way to get involved here at FIU.  I saw it as the perfect transition from high school to college.  I then joined Dazzlers because I saw it as an opportunity to do something that I love and have such a great passion for: dance. Through Dazzlers I was able to take my passion of dance and use it as a tool to not only help me gain pride in our university but also to enhance school spirit throughout. I hope to enjoy a career in sporting events.

Would you want to continue forth with dance? What exactly would you want to do in sporting events?

Sporting events has more to do with planning events for professional sports, like tournaments for example.  As far as dancing goes, maybe an NFL cheerleader or teach little kids at a studio.

What has been your most memorable moment at FIU and/or what are you looking forward to doing here before you graduate?

Most memorable moment at FIU is a tie between being on the field when our Panthers beat UCF at home and being crowned as FIU’s 2013-14 Homecoming Queen.

Any last words of advice for your collegiettes?

Enjoy it while it lasts. The memories made at FIU are like no other.

A kid raised in Brooklyn, New York home of fashion, art and great culture. The greatest thing to happen to me was living in the city in a sense it was a love/hate relationship because of the area in which I grew up in. Then there was Manhattan filled with all the lights and glamour and things that were on the big screen. Once I moved to Florida it was in a small town called Bradenton which was a huge culture shock because it was the total opposite from what I was used to in every sense ranging from transportation to people. Then there was the care free atmosphere in which shirts and shoes are optional and thong sandals are an every day thing opposed to the city where that is a rare find. Living in Bradenton gave me a different outlook on things and humbled me in a sense. Then moving to Miami for school brought me back to my city roots except with a different view on things and my motivation now is to gain success and not material things as I once dreamed of attaining.
