Campus Cutie- Aziza Mustafa

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Age:19

Major: Hospitality Management

Year: Sophomore

  • What are you involved in on campus?

I am a founding sister of the Alpha Chi Omega chapter here at FIU. I am a general member of SPC (Student Programming Council) and I am a Resident Assistant in Parkview Hall! I have also been a player in the FIU Symphony Band.

  • How do you make time for all these great involvements?

Being involved has always been important to me and I feel it makes my experience worthwhile! I am able to make time because these are things I want to do and I wouldn’t feel complete if I didn’t try to do them. I believe each involvement helps me grow as a person and as a leader.

  • What has been your favorite involvement?

One of my favorite involvements has been being an RA. Living on campus is so much fun and after my first year as a resident I realized I wanted to make that RA-resident connection with others too! It’s a different experience being on the other side of things- such as planning floor programs and being a go-to person for residents on my floor.

  • What are your plans after graduation?

Post-graduation I will most likely be bit by the travel bug. I want to go to Europe and just see what the rest of the world has to offer me! it has also been my goal to work in a hotel and eventually work my way up to manager. I hope to have a Bachelors in Hospitality Management and also have a certificate in bridal planning by the time I leave

  • What has been your most memorable moment here at FIU?

Although it’s tough to narrow down, my most memorable moment so far would have to be working at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival last year and escorting famous Food Network Chefs to their cooking demos! It was a great networking opportunity and I cant wait to do it again!

  • What advice do you have for incoming Panthers?

My first piece of advice would be to definitely go to Panther Camp if you have the chance! And also to be open to this university and to all of the opportunities presented and available because it becomes one’s home. The people that you meet and the experiences you have will give you lifelong friends and memories!
