If you aren’t caught up on the lingo of this generation, the title of this article might sound a little odd to you. I can assure you that you wont be reading about how many people get arrested around the new year! Ever since I got into college, I heard about this famous “cuffing season” and I finally looked into it because I wanted to know more. Urban Dictionary defines cuffing season as such: “during the fall and winter months people who would normally rather be single or promiscuous find themselves along with the rest of the world desiring to be “cuffed” or tied down by a serious relationship. The cold weather and prolonged indoor activity causes singles to become lonely and desperate to be cuffed.” So that was why my heart would slightly ache looking at couples holding hands on the ice skating rink or the holiday pictures of people wrapped in their significant others arms. It all made sense now- I wasn’t taking part in a serious seasonal experience and my heart knew it.
So before sticking my arm out there to be handcuffed to a man, I decided to ask around and see how many others were feeling the blues this winter season. Out of the 508 friends I asked, 36% were cuffed and 64% were not. This already made me curious because it seemed that everyone else, like me, was behind on being wifed in late December. Then when I asked those people again, 70% wanted to be in a relationship and only 30% did not. This indicated to me that everyone wanted to be happy and tied down in a relationship but that no one was making the moves to do so. So if you need a little help and motivation to get out there and get your bae, there are some charts below that will really help you focus and tell that pretty little lady or handsome man you have your eye on that you want to put a cuff on it.
