Fun Games For You And The Fam To Keep It Pushing

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

This quarantine has definitely not been the easiest for some of us. Sooner or later, we will get tired of scrolling through our phones. So, why not bust out the board games and have some fun?

Loteria

Loteria was brought from Spain to Europe in the 1700s and since then, families and friends all over Latin America have been playing the game. Like Bingo, in order to win in Loteria, you must have four of the cards on your playing card called in a row. They must make a line horizontally, vertically, or across. Once you’ve got that, you can shout “LOTERIA”. I have been playing this with the family since quarantine started and it never gets old.

Monopoly

We all know Monopoly! It dates back to the early 20th century. Formerly known as the Landlords Game, Monopoly has been a family favorite for decades. The way to win in Monopoly is by having the most money by the end of the game. I’d definitely give this a try if you haven’t. Quarantine pushed me to do it and I honestly had so much fun! Once you get the game, there’s no way you can’t win!

Cards Against Humanity

This may not be age-appropriate for the entire family but it’s definitely a lot of fun! Cards Against Humanity was released in May of 2011 and has become a cult classic. The point of the game is for players to complete fill in the blank statements with some politically incorrect or slightly offensive playing cards. The point of the game is to run out of fill in the blank cards and have fun. In the end, or once your group decides to call it quits, the person with the most playing cards collected wins!

What Do You Meme?

Memes are an essential part of our society. It’s how we cope with the things we face at times and they bring us genuine laughter. So, someone decided to make a game out of them. Taking a bit of a spin on Cards Against Humanity, What Do You Meme? presents memes with photo cards which you must provide a caption for with a playing card. The game was released in August of 2016 and the point is for you to win as many playing cards as possible and be named king or queen of memes.

Staying at home has become our new normal. We have had to adapt quite quickly to this unpredictable situation and it has definitely taken a toll on us all. Yet, we must try to find the silver lining and being able to spend time with your loved ones, even if you are all shacked up at home, is a great opportunity for some much-needed fun.
