After Kylie’s unsuccessful launch of Kylie Swim, I kinda thought she was just gonna stick to makeup. But of course, in Kardashian fashion, she’s opened up another business.
While it came as a surprise to me, the more you think about it, you can look back and find enough Instagram posts, stories, and sightings to see that her collection has been in the making. She’s been spotted in attendance on many runways, plus she did a campaign with Acne Studios and was on the cover of WSJ.
Since the launch, there’s been some mixed reviews. On one side, it seems like small sizes are too big for small figures. There have been many videos posted on TikTok where influencers with small figures look like they’re wearing large clothes. They’re practically drowning in leather. But on the other, Khy has been fitting well on plus-size figures.
As for prices, they range from $48-$198. Them claiming their prices were affordable brought some outrage, but comparing her brand to another that’s similar, like Aritzia, the prices seem fair.
It’s good she started out with a small selection, but seeing the limited scope regarding design and material, I’m not sure what else Khy would offer. There’re already trademarks for accessories, shoes, purses, etc under Khy so her collection seems to be a long-term business (unlike Kylie Swim).
Would I buy from her collection? No. I’m poor.
But do the clothes look nice? Yes. Still, I wouldn’t pay $48 for a baby tee.
Overall, I think this is a fairly good launch, but not sure what more Khy would offer if it’s not black and leather.
