Lana Del Rey: New Album + World Tour

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

The queen has returned and all is well in the kingdom once again. In case you’re wondering which queen I’m referring to, Lana Del Rey released yet another spiritually-satisfying album to her highly anticipating fans late this summer and the hype is yet to be over.

After teasing her new album Lust for Life early this year, Del Rey began to release singles that led up to the release of her fourth album. Following the release of her iconic albums Born to Die (2012), Ultraviolence (2014) and Honeymoon (2015), this is the first ever album that includes features with other artists.

Unlike her other albums that each have their own theme and sound, Lust for Life packs a variety of eclectic sounds, both retro and modern that accentuates Lana’s ability to adapt to modern music while still giving her fans the nostalgic sound she’s infamous for.

Her new tracks range from deep trap beats featuring Playboi Carti and A$AP Rocky in “Summer Bummer” and “Groupie Love,” to a more 1960s inspired melody featuring Sean Lennon himself titled “Tomorrow Never Came.” Del Rey even features Stevie Nicks on the soulful track dubbed “Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems.” You can catch Lana dancing across the Hollywood sign in the “Lust for Life” music video she released which promotes one of her singles featuring The Weeknd.

This new album is definitely a metamorphosis from what we’ve previously heard over the years. Many fans have suggested that this new album has a more positive feel to it, emphasizing the fact that this is the first album cover we see Lana physically standing outside of her vintage car with a gorgeous smile on her face. For those of us who need a good cry and love a good classic melancholy Lana love song, have no fear; The songs “13 Beaches,” “Cherry” and “White Mustang” will definitely do us that favor.

The outro track on the album named “Get Free” provides a more optimistic approach and leaves listeners with a sense of hope with lyrics stating, “I wanna move/Out of the black/Into the Blue” with a spiritually-lifting retro sound that let’s us know our beautiful queen has evolved and is spreading her positivity to her beloved fans.

As if this album wasn’t already enough to swoon over, Lana released her music video to “White Mustang” and shortly after teasing a Lust for Life World Tour via Instagram to her fans on August 18.

So as we desperately gather our coins in anticipation for the release of these tour dates, you can stay updated on all things Lana including vintage-inspired merchandise and venues she’ll be performing at by visiting www.lanadelrey.com.
