Why do you choose to be so involved in so many different organizations?

  • I have always had a passion to help people and those around me. This led me to get involved on campus through many organizations. I have been able to be a part of Relay for Life, which is an important and moving cause for the community and myself. My desire to help those around me even led to me being involved in Mr. and Miss FIU scholarship pageant. It is very different from anything that I had done in the past but as public relations coordinator, and now, Co- Overall Director I know that it’s really about producing a great event that showcases the talents and efforts of the students and leading them to win scholarships.

What motivates you as a student leader?

  • I am motivated by the impact that I am able to have on the student body and the community outside of FIU. My efforts of each respective organization have a large reward when you have happy students enjoying themselves or truly benefitting from the event.

How do you keep yourself organized?

  • My schedule is hectic, but with my planner I can conquer the tasks that I have at hand. I take my responsibilities very seriously and having a plan ready allows me to accomplish it all.

What are your future plans for the upcoming year?

  • I have the wonderful opportunity to be running in this year’s election for Student Government Vice President along with my running mate Alian Collazo. I have had the honor of being involved with Student Government as a clerk of council for the past three semesters. Student Government’s sole purpose is to advocate for the students and voice their opinions. That goal has always been very clear to me and that is what made me decide to run alongside Alian. We believe in creating a better educational experience for all students. I recognize the problems that an everyday student is having and my goal will always be to help them in any way that I can.

What have you learned throughout your years at FIU?

  • I have learned a lot from the variety of my involvements. I’ve learned the importance of time management to be able to prioritize and fulfill my commitments. I’ve had the ability to work with different FIU students that have taught me important life lessons that I can only hope to give back to all those that come after me.

What advice would you give to an incoming freshman or a student interested in getting involved?

  • My advice would be to explore all the different clubs and organizations that FIU has to offer. Do not limit yourself to one area because being able to do different things makes you more well rounded. Each club and organization has something special but it is up to us as students to take that and turn it into something even better for the benefit of the FIU community.Â
