This year has been eventful and a blessing. It has been nice to get a refreshing year of good vibes after the last two and a half years. In March, I saw the beautiful SZA for her SOS tour and just recently I had the pleasure of seeing Drake and 21 Savage for their It’s All a Blur tour. Two completely different experiences, but 10/10 for both. In this article, I am going to give my commentary on my experience and overall commentary of their progress as artists.

SZA SOS Tour

I went to New York City in March for my birthday just to see SZA with my mother (I dragged her there but details, details). We had a ball in NYC; we ate hot dogs on the side of Central Park, shopped at Vivienne Westwood, etc. My favorite part was the weather! I loved the 40-degree weather; it was a nice contrast to hot Miami. The show was at the Madison Square Garden, and it was so beautiful. The opener Omar Apollo did great, and his mic was definitely on. About an hour after Apollo, SZA came out! Her set list, transitions, stage set-up, dancers, everything was on point. There was something for everyone to jam along to whether a new fan or a day-one fan. My mom did not listen to SZA except for her popular singles, and she still talks about how much fun she had. She had to surprise guests: Phoebe Bridgers and Mrs. Cardi B! The arena lit up for both and it was such a perfect touch to an already great set. I can’t wait for more SZA releases because she has a natural gift for writing and miss ma’am can put on a show.

Drake and 21 Savage It’s All a Blur Tour

I have been an Aubrey Graham and 21 Savage fan since their first albums. Drake, specifically, I grew up on as a kid, so seeing them both in person was so much fun. This was my very first solo concert experience, and the Kaseya Center made it a smooth and safe experience. They had two unofficial openers: Central Cee and Sexyy Red. I was not familiar with Central Cee, but everyone was so excited to see Ms. Red. It was a great prelude to the show to come. There were also other stars in the building including Lil Baby, Rylo Rodriguez, Tom Brady, Winnie Harlow, etc. It was surreal to be in the same building as amazing celebrities. Drake’s set was pretty good; for the price I paid, I expected some more performance than just jumping around. Nevertheless, I was thoroughly pleased with the set list, and stage set and my inner child got a serotonin boost. Now… Mr. Savage ate down for his set. As a biased day one fan, his set list and energy were beautiful (hot take, 21 was better). He gave it 100% and you can tell he was having a fun time. When they performed together, it was great to see the Her Loss energy come to the stage. Overall, it was a great time and a great experience. I hope they continue to work together because their vibes through their music and on stage are great to witness.

If I had to choose between the concerts, SZA has my heart (don’t tell Drake).
