It is February 2024—the celeberation of Black History. It is a month of stories filled with courage, empowerment, discoveries, and monumental moments that define the journey of my community.
February 2024, I celebrate and share the stories of Black Women that have inspired me to become who I am today.
I celebrate my mother an immigrant who came from the country, Ayiti, and arrived in the United States at the age of 14. The hardship she faced was her foundation for us to live the way she believed we deserved. I embrace her stories every day…knowing where she has been…seeing what she does…learning who she is.
I celebrate my siblings. They molded me into the person I am and allowed me to grow and experience the person I always ventured out to be. My passions have been sculpted through our life experiences with one another. I forever live in the moments of our nostaligc memories remembering the good ole days that created an inevitable connection of siblinghood.
I celebrate my friends. We all come from different backgrounds, but our experiences as Black women allow us to share a bond that cannot be broken. We inspire one another. We value one another. We always share love for each other. We see each other within ourselves. The moments I share with them are moments of vulnerability, comfort, and laughter. These moments will forever be held with empowerment.
Lastly, I celebrate me. I celebrate the little Black girl in me who grow in learning her worth and to never set limitations of who and what she can become. The little girl in me created a stepping stone for the young Black woman I am today.
