For the last two months, Trump has been fighting with Congress and Lawmakers to give him funding in order to build the wall along the Southern Border near Mexico.
He reasons that it’s to help with the current influx of drugs, crime, and illegal immigrants that are currently in the United States. It’s a promise he made to all those who voted for him back in 2016 and he’s doing everything to comply with his promise. Trump is claiming that there is a profound threat to make this happen, against any other wishes.
On the televised announcement of the National Emergency, he stated “We’re going to confront the national crisis on our Southern border, one way or the other.” He claimed he didn’t want to do it like this, but in order to save time and make this quicker, he had to. He also mentioned that he had more money than he knew what to do with, giving him more reason to fund the wall.Â
So what does that mean for the country? According to Mr. Newsom, Donald Trump will not be the last and final word on the matter, the vote is ultimately up to the courts. This does, however, mean that if he loses, he is in complete violation of the Constitution and everything it stands for. He is also tapping into money from the military, counternarcotics, and a Treasury Department asset fund, and much more, for a total of roughly $8 billion. This means tighter border patrol, stricter laws for those who immigrated to the U.S, and possible reprecussions for those here illegally above all else.Â
The final word has not been given, so there is still hope that it changes and the wall is not built. A Poll taken by Fox News found that at leat 56% of people were against it, with a 20% of them being republicans, according to The New York Times.Â
