My fellow Marvel fans, they’ve done it again! This past week, Venom was released in theaters and it was honestly much better than I expected it to be. Back when the trailer was first released, I’ll admit that it did absolutely nothing for me. It didn’t make me want to watch it, it didn’t excite me for one of my personal favorite Marvel villains, it was just a trailer that honestly was boring. I was unsure if I even wanted to see the movie at that point because of the trailer but decided to give it a shot this past $6 Tuesday. The trailer did not do this movie any type of justice, so I was pleasantly surprised to find myself heavily enjoying the villain himself and all his back-story glory.

Venom had moments of intense action, the creepy alien from another planet factor, and even some comedic moments in true MCU manner. Without giving any spoilers, I would like to mention that Tom Hardy did a phenomenal job as our anti-hero in the story, and truly delivered his role as our Venom. The movie offered a lot more than was expected from the trailer and honestly would’ve been worth the full price of a movie ticket. It was a real treat to see Venom come to life in a live-action, from someone who was used to seeing him in the animated series and in comics. I will say, I wish there was a little bit of Spiderman in the film, just to give a fellow Marvel fan some sort of connection between them.

As usual, the film ended with Stan Lee being incorporated in some manner, and then the credits rolled. There are 2 hidden gems passing the credits so do stick along to see Marvel give you some awesome teasers to look forward to. All in all, I rate this film an 8/10 and recommend that you grab your friends, or yourself, and go watch Venom. It won’t disappoint you.
