Whoever came up with the phrase “patience is a virtue” has clearly never ordered something online. The word patience loses all meaning. Time slows to a crawl. You can’t remember ever having waited this long for something to arrive. Here are five stages of waiting everyone goes through when they order something online.
- When You first place the Order

Possibly the worst part. You must wait for them to “process” your order before they even ship it out to you. It almost seems like that notification email will never come.

HOORAY!! You’re so elated because your precious package is one step closer to you
3. Tracking its progress through various states

During this stage you’re still hopeful for a speedy delivery and for the most part, it does go quite smoothly. It seems every time you check the website, it’s in another state/city.
4. When it finally reaches your state but it stops a few cities away

This is when time seems to slow down again and you’re just like, “really UPS/Fedex/other?” Like, what is the point of stopping for a scan when you’re so close to my house? Other people’s packages can’t be nearly as important as mine.
5. When it’s FINALLY out for delivery

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I was like this for half the day when I was waiting for my super-cute heels to come in. I’d sit down on my couch, dash to the door if I heard a loud noise, then stay glued to said door for at least five minutes.
And when it finally arrives…
