1. How did you become a part of Flava?

My first exposure to Fordham’s Hip Hop Dance Team, Flava, was through a video my friend, Elizza Marbella, sent me while I was considering college’s during my senior year of high school. I thought it looked like a neat team, and definitely saw myself being a part of it.

2. When did you start dancing and how did you know it was going to be something you’d stick with?

My parents have always had a passion for dancing. So when I was seven years old, they enrolled me in ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing required me to have a partner, which I hated because I thought girls were gross at the time. Naturally, I ended it. I wish I’d stuck with it in hindsight, because girls aren’t so bad after all. After ballroom, I took a break from dance and practiced Shaolin Kung Fu, a style of Chinese martial arts, and joined my high school step team. It was really Flava that made me discover my passion for hip hop. However, before Flava, I was always a huge fan of the TV show “America’s Best Dance Crew”. It made me want to dance. The one thing that has remained true throughout my time spent participating in Kung Fu, the step team, and Flava is that I’ve found some life long friends.

3. Favorite Musician:

I would have to say Drake, because he’s Drake.

4. If you were ever to get a tattoo, what would it be?

I would get a snake. My dad was born in the year of the snake. I would get it on my back, because I always feel like my dad has my back.

5. What’s your favorite Flava memory?

I love that every practice is unique, and I go in not knowing what’s going to happen. There’s always something funny going on, we laugh constantly. The people on Flava are a great group, they’re really funny. Practice can get pretty long, but the time always flies because I’m surrounded by such hilarious and entertaining people.

6. Are you a dog or a cat person?

I’m definitely a dog person. My ideal dog has to be a husky or a shiba. I want a cute dog that will get big and has funny eyebrows.

7. One fact that not a lot of people know about you:

I have the cutest niece and nephews. Tons of people know this, I just want more people to know. Follow my “uncle instagram” @uncle_alb.
