What are some your hobbies & interests? Besides playing for the football team, I really enjoy participating in the arts. I have been dancing since I was 5 years old and when I came to Fordham, I decided to continue dancing, and joined Fordham’s dance company, Fordham Flava. I also enjoy acting and have participated in some plays here at Fordham. I also do a little singing on the side. I like singing songs by artists like John Legend and Anthony Hamilton. (He sang for me, and I’ll admit, he sings like them and really well too!)
How does you describe your style? A lot of my friends tell me this and I agree with them: I consider my style to be urban prep. The days of baggy jeans are long behind me. I feel like once you start wearing more fitted jeans there’s no going back, haha. I also think my style is simple. It’s easy and comfortable to wear, and I only work with what makes me feel and look good.
What are your favorite places to shop & your favorite designers? I enjoy shopping online, but when I do go out to shop I love that New York City has so many different stores; It’s a great place to find unique stores with great clothing. If I had to base it down to three main stores, I’d say that I like purchasing clothes from H&M, Urban Outfitters, and American Apparel. As for my favorite designers, I’d have to say Pharrell Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club clothing line is great. I think he has a good eye for combining colors and keeping it simple.
What is one accessory you can’t live without? Well, I can’t really think of just one, but the three I’d have to say I’d feel naked without are my G-shock watches, beads (bracelets or necklaces), and my dog tags. My dog tags are really special to me because they each have my two siblings names on them (and date of birth) with something about them that inspires me to be a better person every day.
What’s your fashion motto: “Fashion has to reflect who you are, what you feel at the moment, and where you’re going. It doesn’t have to bright, it doesn’t have to be loud. Just has to be you” – Pharrell Williams
How will you carry over your style into the spring? I won’t change it too much; I’ll still rock the same sort of urban prep vibe that I have going on now. You’ll probably just see me wearing more v-neck shirts, cargo shorts, and boat shoes!
Any celebrities whose style you admire? Kid Cudi, Pharrell Williams, and Kanye West have great style. They are constantly inspiring me to take some new fashion risks.
Any current trends you love/hate? I used to hate bubble vests, but now I wear them all the time and beanie hats too. I really hate v-necks that are way too deep and baggy jeans tucked into really tall combat boots!
Have you ever worn something you regret wearing now? I used to wear baggy white t-shirts and baggy jeans in high school. Never going back to those again, ha ha.
What tips do you have for Fordham students who want to change up their style? I always like to change my style from season to season, but I always wear something I am really fond of no matter what season it is. For Fordham students, I think they have definitely up stepped their styling game. I notice people around campus with really good style all the time. My only tip would be to wear that one piece that you love with the rest of your outfit, even if that piece isn’t in style at the moment.
