Senior defensive back Jordan Chapman is more than just a dedicated athlete; with a charismatic personality to match his talent, he is a standout member of the Fordham community. We’re willing to bet that in a few years we’ll all be watching him on ESPN, whether he’s playing on the field or reporting from behind the news desk. Oh and by the way, Jordan knocked down the field goal that ended last year’s Bucknell game with a win. So yes, he’s kind of a big deal. After going over all the JC fun facts (he was named after the great Michael Jordan, and he loves the Chicago Bulls,) we wanted to find out more about his life as a Ram. Read his full interview below:
Where are you from? Southington, CT
What year are you? Senior
What is your major? Communications and Media Studies, focusing in Radio and Television Broadcasting.
What activities are you involved in? Fordham Football
How did you decide to come to Fordham? Fordham was the only school that offered me a full scholarship, so I thought I would be stupid to pass that up, especially with Fordham’s level of academic prestige.
Do you have any tips for students who are trying to balance schoolwork, extracurriculars, and other obligations like internships? Don’t overbook yourself. I have a problem saying no to people at times. Also, sleep as much as you can.
What’s your favorite thing about New York? I would say the whole sports scene, but I really love food, so I’m going to go ahead and say food. Living on Arthur Avenue is awesome.
Do you have a favorite NYC memory? Going to the top of the empire state building with my mom for the first time was awesome.
What’s on your NYC bucket list? I’ve still never been to the Statue of Liberty, which is embarrassing.
Do you have a favorite Fordham memory? Beating Temple last year and the Bucknell game are top two.
What’s your favorite class you’ve taken at Fordham? Social Media with Professor Marwick.
Where’s your favorite spot on campus? I’m on the football field for a larger amount of time than I am anywhere else, so let’s say there.
If you could give one piece of advice to a Fordham collegiette, what would it be? Sometimes less is more.
So are you referring to makeup… clothes… hookups? All of the above.
What’s your dream job? NFL defensive back for whatever team is willing to sign me.
Who is your favorite professor at Fordham? Either Professor Marwick or Father Denniston.
What’s one thing everyone would be surprised to learn about you? I started playing football senior year of high school.
