If you’ve attended any of the many awesome events put on by Fordham Rose Hill’s Campus Activities Board, then you’ve definitely run into Joe Mattiello. His involvement on campus in some awesome organizations like Students for Wounded Veterans makes him extra celeb-worthy. Known for his big personality and surprising knowledge of the wooden posts around Eddie’s, Joe took some time to let HC Fordham get to know him better!
Full Name: Joseph John Mattiello
School & Year: Gabelli, Class of 2017
Hometown: East Norwich, Long Island
Major: Finance, Econ. minor
What are you involved in on campus? I’m a co-founder of Students for Wounded Veterans, Rose Hill’s first student-run service organization working with veterans, a New Student Orientation Captain, an Executive Board member of CAB, and an editor and contributor for Fordham Political Review.
What made you decide to join CAB and how has it made your Fordham experience better? Freshman year, some of my RAs in Martyrs’ Lalande as well as my Orientation Leaders encouraged me to get really involved, particularly in CAB. I went to a lot of their events, and got the sense that they could really affect the whole campus with their events, so I joined! CAB has contributed hugely to my Fordham experience by giving me a true sense of community with my fellow CAB members and my Fordham peers who attend our events. It’s an incredible feeling to walk around campus and know so many people. Also, I love being able to be a part of the ‘behind-the-scenes’ planning of our events.
What are some CAB events you’re looking forward to next semester? Unfortunately I won’t be at Rose Hill next semester because I’ll be studying abroad in London… But, I am really interested to see what speakers CAB brings to Fordham, Valentine’s week, and of course the acts for Spring Weekend! Keep checking the Fordham Campus Activities Board Facebook page for more events and info!
What’s your dream job? If educational background didn’t matter, I would be a food scientist.
Who is your biggest inspiration? Other than my parents (I feel like everyone should find a way to be inspired by their parents), Mark Cuban–he’s just everywhere, and I love Shark Tank… And also, RA Douglas Spring of Walsh Hall.
What is your favorite thing about Fordham? That you can stand by the fountain, do a 360-degree spin, and not at all feel like you are in the greatest city in the world. And the 182 posts around Eddie’s. Count them.
