Each year, Fordham University and the Campus Activity Board orchestrate an opportunity for families to come visit students, appreciate the gorgeous campus, and get a taste of the Bronx. This year, some of the events offered were a pre-football game meal, a showcase of some of Fordham’s finest talent, a presentation by the one and only University President Joseph M. McShane, the annual Family Weekend Mass, and, of course, the sibling sleepover program.
The McGinley Ballroom was looking great decked out in maroon and white for the pre-game lunch! The menu included favorites such as sandwiches, chili, and mac & cheese.
Families then took to Jack Coffey Field to watch the Rams defeat the Bucknell Bison, 24-16…go Rams!
The University Church offers some of the most beautiful Gothic architecture you can find. Even though the church has a capacity of 1,200 people, it was packed to the brim as families gathered for a beautiful liturgy.
At the end of the night, many families (including mine) trekked down to Arthur Avenue to experience Little Italy, and some of the best food in New York. Trattoria Zero Otto Nove is a Katusa family favorite: Margherita pizza, Antipasto Freddo, and Linguini Al Nero Di Sepp were all divine.
All in all, I can confidently say that Fordham’s Family Weekend was as successful as it has been in years past. We’re already looking forward to see what Fordham has to offer next year!
