Thanks to 8 O’Clock Coffee, our Senior Year bucket list got even longer this semester; the Central Perk pop up exhibit to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Friends was a must-see. It was actually so important to us, we made two attempts. Originally, without thinking, we decided to go on a Saturday when the weather was warm and gorgeous. Big mistake. The line wrapped around three blocks and moved slower than the line to purchase Under The Tent dance tickets. We decided to return on a Wednesday and, luckily for us, the line was much shorter; we were in after fifteen minutes.
We made our way through the door and were greeted by some of the most iconic outfits. The shirt Monica sang karaoke in, Ross’s leather pants, Pheobe’s guitar. We made our way slowly over to the coffee counter, ordering our free drinks, then setting our eyes on the exhibit’s main attraction: the couch. We had our picture taken on the famous orange sofa then shopped for souvenirs. From alex and ani style bracelets with couch and door frame charms, to pins reading “He’s her lobster!” and “We were on a break!” there was a lot of tough decisions to be made.
The pop-up shop has closed, but if you were lucky enough to stop by then you know all about the amazing memories that were made here. For the rest of you who couldn’t go, there’s always the DVD box set.
