What’s a holiday if it’s not an excuse for a fun manicure? Saint Patrick’s Day is on it’s way- here’s an easy, SPD inspired ombré manicure. You will need 2-3 nail polishes in the green family. I used Essie’s blanc (white), navigrate her (light green), going incognito (dark green), and set in stones (sparkle). You will also need a makeup wedge.
Step 1: Apply a base coat
Start by using your lightest color as a base for your manicure.
Step 2: Prep your paint
Open your three (or two) colors. Starting at the bottom edge of your makeup wedge, paint a horizontal line using the darkest color. Next, create a parallel line with your lighter color. The paints can overlap. Do the same for your third color if you have one.
Step 3: Press your ombré
With all three colors on your makeup wedge, align the bottom of the wedge with your cuticle then gently press the sponge to cover your nail. The three colors should evenly cover your nail from cuticle to tip. Repeat this step for all ten nails.
Step 4: Clear coat
Apply a clear, top coat to smooth over that speckled texture caused by the makeup wedge.
Step 5: Clean it up
You’ll probably notice that nail polish is getting all over your fingers. Take care of this by dipping a Q-tip in nail polish remover and carefully cleaning up the edges around your nails.
Step 5: Top it all off
When I finished my manicure, it felt like something was missing. I added silver sparkles to jazz it up.
There you have it. 5 easy steps to a festive Saint Patrick’s Day manicure!
