Single or Taken, These Are The Best Valentine’s Day Events in NYC

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Valentine’s Day— either you love it or hate it. Luckily, New York City has endless events that you can spend with your significant other, alone, or with your best friends. Enjoy what the city has to offer this week.

The Love of Chocolate Class

What’s Valentine’s Day without chocolate? Learn how to hand make macarons, bonbons, and other Valentine’s Day themed treats at L’Ecole Valrhona in Brooklyn. Sip on chocolate cocktails with your loved one, while a master chef teaches you all the tips and tricks of making desserts.

Valentine’s Day Cruises

If you’re looking to do something romantic, book a cruise to set sail on the Hudson and view the city’s landmarks. Dining and sightseeing cruises are offered year-round from Pier 61 at Chelsea Piers. Brunch and dinner cruises are available that include either a buffet-style or three course meal, while a DJ plays music the whole trip so that you and your significant other can dance along the Manhattan skyline.

Romance Under the Stars

This is the ultimate Valentine’s Day date hosted by the American Museum of Natural History’s Rose Center for Earth and Space. Cuddle up under the museum’s asteroids with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres. The night continues in the Hayden Planetarium, where an astronomer tells love stories that are based on cosmic mythology.

Love and a Movie at Monarch Rooftop

Looking for something to do with your girls? Go view an outdoor screening of the film Valentine’s Day on the Monarch Rooftop (don’t worry, it’s enclosed in the winter). This is a great way to spend Galentine’s day, sipping on cocktails and eating popcorn with your girlfriends.

Visit a Valentine’s Themed Bar

From February 8-18,  Barlovento is turning into a Valentine’s Day themed bar. It is filled covered in pink and red hearts, and serving up love themed cocktails and snacks. Cupid will also be there shooting arrows around!

Grab your best friends and dance the night away at Rough Trade’s 90s themed Valentine’s Day Dance Party. They will be playing all of your favorite songs from the 1990s.

Galentine’s Day Market

Needing some retail therapy? Another way to treat yourself and spend Valentine’s Day with the girls. Sip on complimentary drinks and snacks, enjoy a manicure or hairstyling, and get a tarot reading. This market is located in the same building as Urban Outfitters, so you’ll be sure to shop away any Valentine’s Day blues.
