Spring Weekend ’11: Staying Stylish

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Spring Weekend is just days away, but are you stuck on what to wear to all of the festivities? Don’t despair – Her Campus Fordham is here to help!

If last year’s DJ Earworm performance is any indication, Friday night’s The White Panda concert will turn into a giant dance party. To keep cool alongside hundreds of your fellow Fordham students, it’s all about comfort, from crop tops to shorts. Now’s the time to break out some of the season’s hottest prints, from leopard to tribal-inspired. Don’t shy away from color either, whether you choose to go bold with your nail polish or eyeshadow. For the shoes, go for something comfortable yet fabulous, whether that means platform pumps or functional and bohemian gladiator sandals.

The Third Eye Blind concert and BBQ on Saturday is the perfect time to have fun with 70’s and 90’s -inspired fashions. There are so many options here, but remember sunscreen is not an option. Anything from a maxi dress, a romper, a sundress or crop top and high-waisted shorts combo would be perfect! Look for items in bright colors, floral prints or even in denim! If you want to break away from your everyday footwear, you can try combat boots, espadrilles or clogs – it’s all a matter of your personal style. Top things off with a great pair of sunnies and even a great hat!

This year’s Under the Tent theme is ice castle, and while it’s not required to dress according to theme, I think it’s always fun! (Remember last year’s Willy Wonka theme went great with brightly colored dresses!) Look for flirty cocktails dresses in icy blues or steely grays. Creams and prints work too, and try fun trends like a one-shoulder dresses. You can even scour the stores on Fordham Road for the perfect dress, just make sure to keep it classy. Just add another pair of fabulous shoes and grab a clutch, and you’re ready to dance the night away!

What are you wearing to Spring Weekend? We’d love to hear!
