Weekend Activities Besides Tri-Bar, Part 2

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Tired of Tri-Bar on the weekends? Here’s more great things to try. Have fun!

Arcade
Whether it is an adult arcade/restaurant like Dave and Busters or an old school kid’s arcade, get your competitive juices flowing with games and prizes!

Lazer Tag
Various arcades also have the option of lazer tag. Gather together a group of friends to play, or organize teams and book it in advance.  This is a great idea for birthday parties or just spur-of-the-moment entertainment.

Capture the Flag
When the weather is nice and the cash is low, organize a game of capture the Flag with your friends.  Make sure to establish the boundaries and rules in advance.  Get into the competitive spirit with team colors and get some free entertainment and fun exercise.

Bronx Zoo
Despite its proximity, most Fordham students never take the time to head across the street to the Bronx Zoo.  On an idle Wednesday, take advantage of free entry and enjoy an afternoon with the animals!

Botanical Gardens
Another city gem is located across the street from Fordham’s Rose Hill campus: the Botanical Gardens.  It is also free on Wednesdays and you can get lost in the beautiful nature in the heart of the Bronx.  Head over to the Farmer’s Market on Wednesday for some delicious and organic treats.

Pottery Painting
If you’re feeling crafty, dip your toes in an afternoon of pottery painting.  It’s a soothing artistic activity, and you get to take home a fun trinket at the end of it!

Broadway/Off-Broadway
If it’s musicals you’re in to, head to Time Square for a show! Get discounted or free tickets by testing your luck at a Broadway lottery rush.  For instructions and rush schedules, check out http://www.nytix.com/Links/Broadway/lotteryschedule.html.

Concerts
Search the Internet for concert and shows in Manhattan.  There is something going on every night in New York City, so you are sure to find something that suits your interests.

Check back next week for Part 3!

Katie is a junior Communication and Media Studies major at Fordham University. Despite going to school in the Bronx, she is a proud Jersey Girl, born and raised in Cedar Grove, NJ. Since the sixth grade, communications has been her passion and main pursuit. She is actively involved in her school's television station and currently anchors the Fordham Nightly News. As a proud Italian-American, she also serves as a National Youth Co-Chair for UNICO, the largest Italian-American service organization in the U.S., and is a two-time scholarship recipient and member of New York Women in Communications. Katie is currently a Digital Media intern at Ralph Lauren. Some of her favorite things are the Jersey Shore (the place, not the TV show), anything chocolate, and the sales racks at Bloomingdales. She is obsessed with Glee, Rob Thomas, and Sophie Kinsella's Confessions of a Shopaholic book series. After graduation, Katie plans on pursuing a career in broadcast journalism or public relations.
