As a new semester rolls in, new opportunities present themselves. Specifically, clubs all around FSU begin posting information on how to get involved. Any collegiette who would like to better herself and her campus should take a closer look at these clubs:
1. Society of Women Engineers
A nonprofit organization that supports women in the engineering field, a field where only 11 percent of the workforce is comprised of women according to the Huffington Post. Getting assistance as well as having a community can empower women to seize engineering opportunities.
2. Art Therapy Association
Even if you aren’t an art major, the Art Therapy Association invites you to come try and release your stress by creating. The club also does volunteer work in the community, attends national conferences and has guest speakers.
3. Best Buddies
A club that was popular in many high schools, Best Buddies at FSU pairs college students with someone with intellectual disabilities. This is not only a great way to help the community and build a bond that will last forever, but students can also get ServScript hours for participating.Â
4. Box of Love
If you are interested in helping your community and bringing a smile to a child, join Box of Love at FSU. This club makes care packages boxes to give to children in the area that are going through a hard time.
5. Campus Girl Scouts
Thin Mints, camping and sisterly bonding isn’t something that you have to leave behind with your middle school troop. Join the Campus Girl Scouts to get leadership experiences, community service and to meet girls that live by the same positive values.
6. Climbing Club
Looking for a new and unique workout experience? Join the Climbing Club for a full body workout. This club will also teach you different techniques to ensure you have a better climb and participates in national competitions.
7. Coping Through College
Because who doesn’t love puppies? Known for bringing dogs to many organizational functions to help decrease stress, anxiety and homesickness to students across campus, they also conduct other stress releasing events. Their goal is to build a dog park on campus.
8. CrossFit
Self-care is always important and joining the CrossFit clubs allows its members to reach their peak physical state. It is also a great way to meet a new workout buddy who will push you to go to the gym even when you would rather just have a pajamas and Netflix day.Â
