Her Campus (HC): How did you develop a love for PR?
Alexandra Marcroft (AM): When I came to FSU, I was an exploratory major because I honestly had no idea what I wanted to pursue in life. Throughout high school I had always loved my creative writing and English classes, so I tried to figure out how I could turn my interests into a career. When I began researching Public Relations, I started to realize it was very different from Samantha’s job on Sex and the City. So how did I develop a love for it? I think one of the reasons this industry stood out is because of the fast-paced environment it comes with. It’s not your typical 9-5 office job. The industry is growing, it’s different, it’s challenging, it’s a lot of work and no day is like the last. Once I was accepted into the program here at FSU, my love only developed more because of the amazing professors, experiences and people I’ve met.Â
HC: What are some organizations you are involved in at FSU?
AM: I’ve been involved in the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Student Chapter here at FSU since I was a freshman. Now I hold a position on the executive board as Secretary. I’m also an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, which allows me to participate in Relay for Life and as a third-year dancer for Dance Marathon.

HC: How has FPRA helped you develop as a future career woman?
AM: FPRA has enlightened me about the Public Relations industry and has further expanded my knowledge of what the “real world” is like after graduation. This organization is what led me to my current internship here in Tallahassee. However, the really fun part about being a member is taking the networking trips. Last spring we went to Chicago, and I fell in love with the atmosphere of the city so much that I’m going back in December. Hopefully I can land an internship there in the summer!Â
HC: If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
AM: According to the Buzzfeed quiz I just took to help me answer this, I’d say New York City. Personally, I think London would be my final answer. My dad immigrated to America from England when he was young, so half of my family resides there. I absolutely love their culture and always look forward to our family trips there! Plus I love a proper shepherd’s pie.Â

HC: What would be your advice to future Seminoles?
AM: Try everything FSU has to offer! This university has so many diverse clubs and organizations one can be a part of. It’s awesome, but there’s also a bowling alley, the Rez and my personal favorite, Club Downunder.Â
