One of the most popular comedians of the 90s has been sentenced to three to ten years in a state prison.
Bill Cosby was sentenced and denied bail on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. The sentencing was determined after Cosby was found guilty of sexual assault back in April of this year. The courts still haven’t determined which prison will be suitable for Cosby, due to his high profile and health issues.

Lili Bernard, an actress, was one of the dozens of women who came forward, saying that he drugged and raped her. “Someone as beloved and revered as Bill Cosby was convicted. That’s going to make another rapist pause before attacking women.” But if the judge were to deliver a nominal sentence and allowed this monster to enjoy the comfort of his home, that would be giving a really mixed message—a bad message.” The victims of Cosby stood together in solidarity through the first mistrial/hung jury, and through all of the media exposure.
Cosby is 81 years old, legally blind and isn’t self-sufficient. Cosby’s health is diminishing quickly. It has been predicted that he is likely to pass within his first few months in prison. He is showing early signs of multiple stroke-like symptoms: paralysis, slurred speech and hemiplegic migraines. So much so that Cosby’s doctor has told him to get his affairs in order and make his funeral arrangements.

He was once known as “America’s Dad” and now he’s guilty of a heinous crime. The sexual assault count that resulted in his conviction was the “sexual assault of Andrea Constand at his home 14 years ago”. Cosby was also charged $25,000 in fines and prosecution fees. Constand’s account was the only one that occurred within the statute of limitations. This led to Cosby’s first arrest in 2015. This was the first case to establish the #MeToo Movement, a movement that was founded in 2006 to help any sexual assault/ sexual violence survivors, mainly young survivors of color, to find their passage to proper healing.
Cosby’s lawyers are planning to appeal these convictions because the main grounds for the ruling was Cosby’s outburst in court. His lawyer’s defense is that one of the witnesses also had an outburst in court and was excused, while Cosby was seen as being disrespectful and remorseless regarding the actions he had taken. His lawyer claims that Cosby’s frustration about his name being dragged, especially in the media, for events that he denied was the cause of his outburst. Â
