Over the past two years, I’ve been privileged to get to know the very sassy, sincere, and talented Brittany Carey. Her dedication and ability to balance her education, fitness, faith, and friends is truly admirable. She’s one of a kind and definitely a cross-country cutie!
Age: Sophomore
Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Her Campus (HC): How did you get into running/cross country?
Brittany Carey (BC): I had a crush on this cute boy who did cross-country so I joined the team to get to hang out with him more. Also, so I could eat more.
HC: Do you listen to music when you run? If so what’s your jam?
BC: I don’t listen to music. I like to think when I run; some of my best ideas come out while running. And I enjoy running with people- it makes the time go by faster.
HC: Favorite place to run?
BC: Tom Brown Park.
HC: Favorite song?
BC: I love me some “Gas Pedal” from Sage the Gemini and “Drunk in Love” by Beyoncé.
HC: Do you have any tips for beginner runners or people wanting to improve their running?
BC: Just start running. Pick like 20 or 30 minutes straight out of your day and just go! It’s okay to walk. It’s suggested to get 30 minutes of exercise at least five days a week. You can even get these 30 minutes walking to class!
HC: What’s your major and how did you choose it?
BC: Dietetics. I chose it because I feel a calling to work in an eating disorder clinic to help teens struggling with body issues.
HC: Being an athlete, you probably have to eat healthy. What’s your favorite guilty pleasure food?
BC: Oh crap, there’s like 20! Mr.Roboto’s or really just any chinese all day, everyday. Oh, and honey butter chicken biscuits from Whataburger.
HC: Favorite TV show?
BC: Gossip Girl and Criminal Minds. Very different, but both so good!
HC: What immediately comes to mind when I say Blair Waldorf?
BC: Myself. She’s perfect.
HC: What’s your most embarrassing story from your college experience so far?
BC: Well, my freshman year right when I got up to Tally, a band of intoxicated people tried to get into my car as I was driving so I just kept driving and tried to maize them. What? I was a scared little freshman!
HC: So when you’re not in running shorts and sneakers, what’s your ideal outfit? Favorite store?
BC: I love wearing patterned sweaters and anything sparkly. Sparkles are great! I really love Target. It has my heart, but the runner in me loves Dick’s Sporting Goods!
HC: Valentines Day is coming up. Any big plans?
BC: Going to see Jackass 3 with my boo thang. Oops.
HC: What’s your dream date?
BC: That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.” (Did you catch the Miss Congeniality reference?)
